Every Saturday, our guided excursion (Italian and English) will allow you to admire some of the most beautiful sights our seaside, tourist and spa town.
We will start from Mount Kronio, which, according to legend, was the home of the Greek god Kronos (father of Zeus).
On its summit we will find the wonderful Church of San Calogero, built in 1530 and elevated to the dignity of minor basilica by Pope John Paul II in 1979.
Also in the same area, we will admire the cave that, according to tradition, was used by the hermit Saint Calogero to rest and the steam caves that, according to legend, were dug by Daedalus.
At the foot of Mount Kronio, we visit the ‘Enchanted Castle’, a place of indescribable atmosphere. A museum-garden where can be found thousands of sculptures created by Filippo Bentivegna.
After this magical place, we will head towards the historical centre of the town where we will visit the Cathedral (or Matrice) and also Porta Palermo, Porta San Salvatore and Porta San Calogero, which, together with the two gates that have now disappeared, formed the five gates of Sciacca.
We will show you the ceramics workshops, the coral shops, the town hall and the main square of the town as well as the charming sailor’s quarter.
To round off our tour in the best possible way, for an additional charge, you can enjoy a tasting of typical Sciacca sweets.
