Discover Sciacca – Guided Walking Tour through History and Tradition-ESP30

The tour begins on Mount Kronio, a place rich in history and mythology.
According to legend, it was once the dwelling of the Greek god Cronus.
Here, you’ll visit the Basilica of San Calogero, built in 1530 and elevated to the rank of minor basilica by Pope John Paul II in 1979.
At the top of the mountain, you’ll also admire the Cave of San Calogero, where the hermit saint is said to have rested, and the Steaming Caves, traditionally attributed to the genius of Daedalus.
Descending toward the city, the tour continues with a visit to the Enchanted Castle, a museum-garden featuring thousands of sculptures created by the visionary artist Filippo Bentivegna.

In the historic center of Sciacca, you’ll explore some of its most iconic landmarks:
- Mother Church (Matrice) – the city’s main cathedral
- The ancient city gates: Porta Palermo, Porta San Salvatore, and Porta San Calogero
- Piazza Angelo Scandaliato, the lively heart of the town with its stunning sea views
- The fishermen’s quarter, an authentic and picturesque corner of old Sciacca
